Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary
Sanguem, India

Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary covers about 211 square kilometres in Sanguem taluka and was declared a sanctuary in 1999. It lies along the Western Ghats and protects some of the least disturbed forests in South Goa. The sanctuary is home to leopards, gaur, sambar, barking deer, Malabar giant squirrels and many birds. It is known for several scenic waterfalls, including Mainapi and Savari, which are reached on forest treks. A unique attraction is the Budbudyanchi Tali, or bubbling lake, a temple pond where bubbles rise to the surface when people clap or make noise. The sanctuary is quiet and sees fewer visitors than other parks. Trekking with local guides is the best way to explore. It is worth the trip for its wildlife, waterfalls and unusual natural features.
