The Museum of Goa, often called MOG, is a contemporary art museum in Pilerne, Bardez. It was founded in 2015 by the Goan artist Subodh Kerkar, known for his sculptures and installations inspired by the sea and Goa's history. The museum occupies a large converted industrial building with high ceilings that suit large-scale works. Its exhibitions explore Goa's past and identity through contemporary art, including themes of trade, colonialism and the coast. Alongside Kerkar's own work, it shows artists from Goa, India and abroad, with exhibitions changing regularly. The museum also runs workshops, talks and events, and has a cafe and shop. It offers a very different experience from Goa's churches and forts. It is worth the trip for an imaginative, modern take on Goan history and culture.
