Grande Island

Grande Island lies off the coast near Mormugao harbour and is one of Goa's most popular destinations for snorkelling and scuba diving. The island and the waters around it are reached by boat trips that usually leave from Sinquerim, Bogmalo or Baina. Its clear waters and coral patches support colourful fish and marine life. A well-known dive site nearby is a shipwreck often called Suzy's Wreck, which divers can explore. Many boat tours combine snorkelling, fishing, swimming and a beach lunch, and dolphins are often seen on the way. The island itself has rocky shores and small beaches. Trips are possible only in the dry season, as the sea becomes rough in the monsoon. It is worth the trip for Goa's best underwater experience.
