Dudhsagar Falls
Collem, India

Dudhsagar Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls in India, located on the Mandovi River on the Goa and Karnataka border in Dharbandora taluka. The four-tiered falls plunge about 310 metres down a steep cliff in the Western Ghats. Its name means Sea of Milk, describing the white, frothy cascade during the monsoon. A railway line crosses the falls on a bridge partway up, and trains passing in front of the cascade make one of the most famous scenes in India. The falls lie within the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. Visitors usually reach them by jeep safari from Collem, followed by a short walk to the viewing area. Jeep access is generally suspended during the heavy monsoon months. It is worth the trip for one of the most spectacular natural sights in the country.
