Daniel Boone Home

The Daniel Boone Home near Defiance is a stone house associated with the famous American frontiersman in his final years. Daniel Boone moved to the Missouri country, then under Spanish control, around 1799, and he lived in the area until his death in 1820. The four-story Georgian-style stone house on the property was built by Boone's son Nathan, and Daniel Boone is believed to have spent time and died there. The home is preserved as a historic site and anchors a re-created village of relocated period buildings that interpret early nineteenth-century frontier life.
