Colva Beach in Salcete taluka is the best-known beach in South Goa and part of a long stretch of white sand running along the coast. It was one of the earliest beaches in Goa to attract tourists and remains busy and lively, especially with domestic visitors. The beachfront has shacks, restaurants, water sports and a central promenade area. Fishermen still work from parts of the beach, and their boats line the sand. Colva is close to the town of Margao, making it easy to reach. The village's Church of Our Lady of Mercy is famous for its Menino Jesus feast in October. Sunsets here draw large crowds, and evenings are lively with food stalls and music. It is worth the trip for an accessible, classic South Goa beach day.
