Atal Setu
Panaji, India

Atal Setu is a cable-stayed bridge across the Mandovi River at Panaji, linking the capital with Porvorim. It was opened in January 2019 to ease traffic on the older Mandovi bridges. With its approaches, the bridge runs for about 5 kilometres and is one of the longest cable-stayed bridges in India. It is named after the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Its tall pylons and fanned cables have become a new landmark on the Panaji skyline. At night the bridge is lit with coloured lights that reflect on the river, making it a popular photography subject from the Panaji waterfront. Visitors mostly view it from the riverside promenade or from a river cruise. It is worth seeing as the modern counterpart to Panaji's historic waterfront.
