Ashwem Beach
Ashwem, India

Ashwem Beach lies on the Pernem coast between Morjim and Mandrem, and is valued for its clean sand and relaxed, upmarket feel. Rocky outcrops at its northern end create shallow pools at low tide, which make the water gentler for paddling and swimming. The beach is lined with stylish beach huts, boutique stays and restaurants that have made it popular with travellers who want comfort without crowds. Unlike Calangute or Baga, Ashwem has no large-scale development, and much of the shoreline stays uncrowded even in peak season. Visitors spend their time swimming, sunbathing and eating at the beach restaurants, many of which serve international cuisine. Sunsets here are a highlight, with the sun dropping over open water. The nearby villages give a glimpse of rural Pernem life. Ashwem is worth the trip for an easy beach day with good food and plenty of space.
